18th June, 2025, Bhubaneswar: Open Learning Systems’ Nimapada team met with members of village-level Environment Protection and Disaster Preparedness Committees at Bhuan, Dhanua Gram Panchayat.
The Committee met to discuss issues such as the role of community in disaster preparedness and environmental protection, and important preparedness measures to be taken at community-level, as well as discussing how to reduce plastic usage and create a pollution-free village, safeguard their area’s green cover, and rain water harvesting and river protection measures. In a disaster-prone state like Odisha, such initiatives that drive action upwards from a grassroots level are of particular importance.
